Corduroy Material Characteristics

1. Diverse Raw Materials: Corduroy is primarily made of cotton, but to adapt to different needs and enhance performance, it is often blended or interwoven with synthetic fibers such as polyester, acrylic, and spandex. This combination allows corduroy to retain the softness and warmth of cotton while enhancing its wear resistance, washability, and quick-drying properties.

2. Pile Structure: Corduroy's pile is formed through specialized weaving and processing techniques. In the fabric, one set of warp yarns is interwoven with two sets of weft yarns. One set of weft yarns (ground weft) interweaves with the warp yarns to form the ground fabric, while the other set of weft yarns (pile weft) forms the floating weft with the warp yarns after the pile is cut, forming the pile. This structure gives corduroy its thick texture and excellent thermal insulation.
